Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II
Founded in 1224, University of Naples Federico II one of the oldest European university and the oldest public university in the world. Today there are 26 Departments in “Federico II” University. One of the largest, the Department of Industrial Engineering of University of Naples Federico II, was founded in 2013 and includes mechanical and aerospace engineering. The Aerospace Section of the department has a long tradition dating its roots back in 1926. More than 80 years of continuing research and developments have built a solid and accredited tradition of excellence based upon a strong relationship between the academic community, the aerospace industry and the research centres, locally and internationally.
The ambition of the University of Naples Federico II is to be a centre of excellence in higher education and research. Its mission is to contribute to the development of knowledge and to the training of professionals through innovative and high-quality educational offerings, as well as through advanced scientific research.
The university has been recently dealing with research activities on the conceptual and preliminary design of electric/hybrid aircraft, funded in the frame of European projects (Clean Sky 2, H2020 and Clean Aviation) in collaboration with relevant industrial partners and research centres.
